Free webinars during the Biophysics Week

The second annual Biophysics Week is coming up March 6-10, 2017.  Biophysics Week is a global effort to encourage connections within the biophysics community and raise awareness of the field and its impact among the general public, policy makers, students, and scientists in related fields.

There are several exciting events planned throughout the week. The Biophysics Week website has details on all the events as well as resources you can use:  lesson plans, career brochures, profiles, fun facts, news, and photos. Currently, there are registered events taking place in eight countries across the continents of Asia, Europe, North America, and South America, with more events being added daily - - you may find that some of them are happening near you!

Helping Hands: Finding and Maintaining Mentorships within the Biophysical Community 
Join the Biophysical Society and the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) to discuss the key role mentoring plays in helping scientists advance at all levels of their career, the challenges and importance of finding a mentor within the biophysical community, the role of mentoring in advancing opportunities for underrepresented scientists, as well as the opportunities to become or find a mentor through NRMN.  Guests for this webinar include, Harlan Jones, University of North Texas Health Science Center, Hari Arthanari, Harvard Medical School, Jody Puglisi, Stanford University, and. How to Write a Biophysics Article Worthy of Publication
This webinar will cover “soup to nuts” on writing a biophysics paper. It will start with how to take data from your lab notebook and organize it into an outline and first draft of a manuscript. You will then learn how to organize and polish your manuscript into a final draft. Finally, you will be guided through the steps of submitting to a journal, the peer review process, and what you can do to increase your chances for acceptance and publication. Register here.
